Kid Icarus is an action platform game with role-playing elements. The player controls the protagonist through two-dimensional levels, which contain monsters. Pit’s primary weapon is a bow with unlimited arrows that may be upgraded with three collectable power items. These upgrades will work only if Pit’s health is high enough. The game keeps track of the player’s score, and increases Pit’s health bar at the end of a level if enough points were gained.

The player begins the game by choosing four characters. Each character has an select set of skills with different attributes and abilities. There are six classes: Fighter, Thief, Black Belt, Red Mage, White Mage, and Black Mage.
Later in the game, the player has the option to have each character undergo a “class upgrade” and some classes gain the ability to use weapons and magic that they previously could not use. The game contains a variety of weapons, armor, and items to make the characters more powerful in combat. Each character has eight inventory slots, with four to hold weapons and four to hold armor. Each character has restrictions on what weapons and armor it may use.
Donkey Kong Jr. is an arcade-style platform game. There are a total of four stages. DK Jr. can run left and right, jump, and grab vines to climb higher. He can slide down faster by holding only one vine. DK Jr. can jump over enemies while on platforms, switch from one vine to another to dodge them, or knock down pieces of fruit that will destroy every enemy they touch before falling off the bottom of the screen.
The objective of the game is to travel to the five mansions parts of Dracula’s corpse, and a Magic Cross. The body parts can be used to support Simon on his quest. For example, Dracula’s Rib can be a shield to block projectiles fired from an enemy. Finding all of the required items will allow Simon to clear the blockade in front of Dracula’s castle to fight the final boss. After the player defeats Dracula, there are three possible endings based on how long it takes to complete the game.
In the game, each player(s) must control one of two dragons. Players can move along platforms or fall to the lower ones, and jump up to higher ones and over gaps. Each level is a single screen, with no scrolling; however, players can fall through and reappear at the top if there are gaps at the bottom of the screen. Each level contains a certain number of enemies that the player(s) must defeat in order to advance.
The game consists of five levels, which are set in military bases, a jungle and the alien’s lair. Stages 1, 3 and 4 are played from the standard side-scrolling perspective, while Stages 2 and 5 employ the top-down. Throughout each stage, the player must fight his way through the enemy lines of defense until reaching the final target awaiting at the end.
The player controls Pac-Man through a maze. There are also four multi-colored ghosts: Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. The goal of the game is to consume all the dots in a level in order to proceed to the next one. Between some levels, one of three intermission animations plays. The four ghosts roam the maze. If any of the ghosts touch Pac-Man he dies. When all lives are lost the game is over. Pac-Man is awarded bonus life at 10,000 points by default.
Ninja Gaiden is a side-scrolling platform game. There are six “Acts” that comprise 20 levels. Ryu’s strength is represented by a life bar, which goes down when he is hit by an enemy or projectile. A “life” is lost when the life meter is depleted or when Ryu falls off of the screen, or when time runs out.
The game is over when all lives are gone. The player may restart the level on which this occurred by continuing. At the end of every act, the player will fight a boss; bosses have life meters that the player drains with attacks. Each boss is one of the “Malice Four” – evil underlings of the Jaquio, the game’s main boss.
Metroid is an action-adventure game in which the player controls Samus Aran. The game takes place on the planet of “Zebes”, a large, open world with areas connected by doors and elevators. The player controls Samus Aran as she travels through the planet’s caverns. She begins with a weak power beam as her only weapon, and the ability to jump. As the player explores more areas and collects power-ups that grant Samus special abilities and enhance her armor and weapons, also allowing her to enter areas that were not accessible.
Mega Man 2 is a platform action game. The player controls Mega Man as he travels through eight stages to defeat bosses. Dr. Wily’s Robot Masters: Metal Man, Air Man, Bubble Man, Quick Man, Crash Man, Flash Man, Heat Man, and Wood Man. Each Robot Master features a unique weapon and a stage. For example, Air Man shoots small tornadoes and is fought in a sky-themed level, while Wood Man uses a shield of leaves and is in a forest-themed stage.
Defeating a boss unlocks their signature weapon to the player.
